A Catholic priest employed at an Oakville church has been charged with sexual assault following an investigation initiated by Halton police in early February. The alleged incident occurred while a woman was volunteering at the church, prompting authorities to take the matter seriously.
Reverend Ranjan D’Sa, 53, has been accused of one count of sexual assault as a result of the ongoing probe. He has served in the clergy since 2010 and has been associated with St. Dominic’s Roman Catholic Church since 2016.
Authorities are concerned that there may be additional alleged victims and are urging anyone with information about D’Sa to come forward. The investigation continues as police seek to uncover more details about the alleged crimes.
Officers were called to a home on Arborwood Drive for reports of a female victim suffering from a gunshot injury. Detectives later identified a second suspect, Devaunte Thompson, and issued a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest on a charge of second-degree murder.
Officials are also investigating a one-alarm fire that destroyed a home under construction in Etobicoke. Toronto Fire crews responded to the scene, highlighting the ongoing efforts to address various incidents across the region.
Other incidents include a serious two-vehicle collision in Mississauga, where a driver was airlifted to a trauma centre, and a homicide investigation in Rexdale following a woman’s death from a gunshot wound. These events underscore the diverse nature of police responses in the area.
