Patricia J. “Pat” Corley, born July 6, 1931, in Prague, Oklahoma, passed away on October 13, 2018, in Norman, Oklahoma, at the age of 87. Known for her warm personality and welcoming spirit, Pat’s life was marked by her dedication to community service and her love for people. From a young age, she began singing in church choirs, a passion that continued throughout her life, eventually leading her to serve as choir director in Okmulgee for 14 years.
Pat’s commitment to service extended beyond her musical endeavors. She was actively involved in several organizations, including P.E.O., Okmulgee Service League, United Methodist Women, Meals on Wheels, and the Cleveland County Christmas Store. Her involvement in these groups reflects the biblical call to serve others, as seen in Matthew 25:35, where serving those in need is likened to serving Christ.
Pat’s family remembered her not only as a spiritual leader but also as a beloved grandmother who celebrated life with enthusiasm. She took great joy in supporting her grandchildren’s activities and was a fervent fan of OU football and basketball games. Her love for people was evident in her frequent shopping sprees and her enjoyment of gathering with friends.
Pat’s legacy is also preserved through her culinary talents, particularly her homemade dinner rolls and Christmas goodies, which brought joy to her family and friends. Her love for gardening and the beauty of flowers in her garden further illustrated her appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.
In her memory, memorial donations can be made to the McFarlin Music Ministry or McFarlin Food Pantry, reflecting her lifelong dedication to music and community service. Memorial services to celebrate Pat’s life were held at McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church, followed by private graveside services at Ft. Sill National Cemetery.
Pat leaves behind a family that cherished her spirit and a community enriched by her service. Her life serves as a testament to the power of love and service, embodying the principle of loving one’s neighbor as oneself, as highlighted in Galatians 6:10. Pat’s legacy continues to inspire those who knew her and those who learn of her life’s work.
