Bishop arrested in Ndiru, Kenya, over alleged sexual relations with daughter
Police in Homa Bay County arrested the bishop of a local church in the Ndiru area of Kagan Ward, according to a report published on January 16, 2025. Officers from Ndiru police station made the arrest after complaints from members of the public.
According to locals, a villager found the clergyman engaged in sexual intercourse with his daughter, who is a mother of three. These are allegations as reported by residents and have not been tested in court.
Rangwe Sub County police commander Magdaline Chebet said police received a tip from concerned members of the public that the bishop had been having sexual intercourse with his daughter, who was married and separated from her husband. Chebet’s account describes what police were told and is not a finding of guilt.
Chebet said officers from Ndiru police station, led by the officer commanding the station, went to the clergyman’s home and arrested him after a public uproar.
The bishop was taken to Ndiru police station, where he is being detained pending investigation. The report does not mention any formal charge, plea, or court appearance.
The bishop’s daughter was questioned after a medical assessment, a step that matters most when a person’s safety and dignity must be protected during an inquiry (Proverbs 31:8-9). She was released after questioning.
