Brett Favre Supports Mississippi Relief Team Serving Free Meals at Neenah Church
Calvary Bible Church in Neenah has become a central hub for tornado recovery, offering families a single location for meals, supplies, and support. The church’s community pantry has been joined by Jones Serves, a disaster relief team based in Mississippi, which traveled to the Fox Valley after learning residents had been affected by the storm. The organization now serves thousands of free, home-cooked meals alongside the church’s existing resources.
Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre shared the Jones Serves relief mission online, encouraging people to visit the Neenah site for assistance. His support has drawn attention to the efforts of the local congregation and the relief team, highlighting the importance of community solidarity in times of need.
Michael Hansen, senior associate pastor at Calvary Bible Church, said the outside support has resonated with the congregation. “And hearing these guys, knowing Brett Favre, it’s like, wow, to have a legend talking about our community, talking about our church, it means so much,” Hansen said. The presence of such figures underscores the broader impact of local efforts and the power of public recognition in mobilizing aid.
Hansen emphasized that the operation aims to provide a comprehensive resource for those affected by the storm. “Yeah, having a one-stop shop is incredible. I mean, you can pick up your supplies, you can get your hot meal. You can even bring a whole bunch of meals to family and friends that you know who also need a hot meal. But really, hopefully, after coming here, you just feel like, I can get through this day,” he explained. This approach reflects the biblical principle of caring for one another in practical ways, as seen in Galatians 6:10, which encourages doing good to all people, especially those in the faith.
Chris Wallace, manager of Jones Serves, said the team is committed to continuing its service. “Anyone that wants to come in and get a free meal today, we want to serve you. It’s great to see people coming day after day. Some of the same people, and you know it’s really appreciated. And that’s what we’re here for,” Wallace said. The consistency and dedication of the volunteers reflect the value of sustained compassion and service.
Inside the church, volunteers continue stocking shelves, ensuring that essential supplies remain available to those in need. Outside, the organization continues distributing hot meals, providing immediate relief to families struggling with the aftermath of the storm. These efforts embody the call to love our neighbors as ourselves, as described in Matthew 25:35, where Jesus emphasizes the importance of feeding the hungry and caring for the vulnerable.
The collaboration between local churches and disaster relief teams illustrates the power of community action in addressing crises. By combining resources and outreach, these groups offer tangible support to those affected, demonstrating the practical expression of faith and mercy. As Hebrews 13:16 reminds us, we should not forget to do good and to share, for such acts are pleasing to God.
