China’s Foreign Minister Supports Palestinian Cause, Calls for Two-State Solution in Baku, Azerbaijan
China’s foreign minister, Wang Yi, reaffirmed his country’s support for the Palestinian cause during a meeting with Palestinian counterpart Varsen Aghabekian Shahin in Baku, Azerbaijan. Wang emphasized that the Palestinian issue should not be marginalized, according to a ministry statement. He urged “all peace-loving countries” to support the two-state solution, highlighting the importance of diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict.
Wang Yi’s remarks coincided with his meeting with Israeli President Isaac Herzog at the CICA Summit in Baku. The discussions focused on strengthening Israel-China bilateral relations and addressing the broader situation in the Middle East. Herzog welcomed the meeting, underscoring the significance of enhancing economic, trade, and cultural ties between the two nations.
During the meeting, Herzog also addressed regional developments, particularly the strategic threats posed by Iran and its terrorist proxies. He emphasized the challenges Israel faces in maintaining security and stability in the region. Wang Yi, in response, called for an end to the “forced establishment” of West Bank settlements, as stated by China’s foreign ministry.
China has consistently maintained that the Palestinian question represents the greatest historical injustice of this century. Wang conveyed this stance to Herzog, reinforcing China’s commitment to advocating for Palestinian rights. The dialogue between the two leaders reflects ongoing diplomatic engagement on a complex and deeply entrenched issue.
