Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints delivered a food donation to Hawaii on June 13, 2026, marking the 50th state to receive a donation in honor of the United States’ 250th anniversary. The donation, which included a 45-foot container of food and supplies, was unloaded at The Food Basket in Hilo, a local food bank. The shipment contained canned fruits, vegetables, meats, pasta, flour, beans, peanut butter, and dried milk, most of which were produced by the Church and funded by member donations.

The Church had previously delivered food donations to all 49 states, with the 100th truck arriving in Dallas, Texas, in May 2026. JustServe volunteers had unloaded the 49th state’s donation in Fairbanks, Alaska, on June 9. The Church’s Welfare and Self-Reliance Services continue to deliver food to communities throughout the year, with plans for 250 total deliveries.

Sister Tracy Y. Browning, second counselor in the Primary general presidency, emphasized the importance of the Church’s efforts in supporting families and communities. “This effort as a Church reflects our desire to follow the teachings of our Savior, Jesus Christ, by lifting others and strengthening individuals, families and communities,” she said.

The Food Basket in Hawaii distributed the donated goods to 10 nonprofit organizations, including food pantries, faith-based ministries, recovery homes, and youth and family service organizations. Enola Kaneta, operations manager at The Food Basket, noted that 42% of residents on Hawaii Island experience food insecurity. “This is huge for our community,” she said. “It is such a blessing that the Church does what you do, especially in times of need.”

The Church’s food donation initiative aligns with its commitment to serving others through mercy and compassion. By providing essential resources to those in need, the Church continues to demonstrate its dedication to supporting communities across the nation.
