Expelled INC Leader Accuses Church of Corruption
Expelled Manalo accuses INC of corruption
Felix Nathaniel “Angel” Manalo, a member of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC), has accused the church’s leadership of corruption, following his expulsion from the organization. Angel, brother of the church’s executive minister Eduardo Manalo, spoke to the media hours after being expelled, claiming that anomalies within the church have led to his decision to speak out.
Angel stated that the anomalies he refers to are not an attempt to seize control of the INC but rather a result of internal issues. He emphasized that the church’s doctrine has been violated, and there are corrupt practices occurring within its ranks. “We don’t want that,” he said, expressing concern over the misuse of church funds and the prioritization of unnecessary infrastructure projects over essential needs like constructing chapels.
The Philippine Arena, a P7.8 billion project in Bocaue, Bulacan, was cited as an example of such unnecessary spending. Angel argued that the church’s resources should be directed toward more pressing needs, such as building chapels, which he claims are already facing financial depletion.
Angel was expelled along with his mother, Christina “Tenny” Manalo, and sister, Lolita “Lottie” Manalo-Hemedez. Despite his expulsion, he expressed his continued love for his brother Eduardo, who has not publicly addressed the situation. Angel urged Eduardo to disregard the influence of those around him, particularly members of the Sanggunian, whom he believes are leading the abuse of church doctrine.
In a call to his supporters, Angel invited them to gather outside their residence to show solidarity in their fight against what he describes as the misuse of the church’s teachings. His statement reflects a broader concern within the INC about the direction of its leadership and the potential violation of its foundational principles.
