Patricia Ann “Patsy” Galyon Wofford, who passed away on April 8, 2019, at the age of 81, was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Born on November 20, 1937, in Loudon, Tennessee, she was the daughter of Kenneth Edgar and Irene Eula Hogan Galyon. Patsy grew up in Sanford, North Carolina, where she graduated from Sanford Central High School in 1956. It was during her high school years that she met Max Wofford, a student at the rival Greenwood High School. The couple married on November 21, 1956, and later moved to Greensboro, where Patsy worked for Hines Telephone Company before eventually retiring from Overnite Transportation and Welborn Electric.

Patsy was known for her love of nature, particularly birds and animals, and she was an avid viewer of “The Young and the Restless.” Her life was marked by a deep commitment to her family, which included her husband Max, their son Bill, and their granddaughter Rebekah. She was also survived by her brothers, James Galyon of Morristown, Tennessee, and Kenny Galyon of White Pine, Tennessee, as well as her beloved dog, Lilly.

Funeral services for Patsy were held on April 12, 2019, at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, followed by entombment at Guilford Memorial Park. The family received visitors one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations be made to Shriners Hospital for Children or First Moravian Church, reflecting her legacy of care and community service.

The obituary also noted that Patsy’s life was intertwined with the Moravian Church, which continues to serve as a beacon of faith, community, and compassion. Her contributions to the church and her dedication to supporting others through charitable giving exemplify the values of justice, mercy, and humble service. Micah 6:8 calls for these very qualities, reminding us that what God desires is to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with Him.
