Israeli forces have taken over Palestinian homes in Hebron, turning them into military barracks and observation posts. The takeover occurred in the areas of Khallat Manna and Dahiyat al-Zaytoun, according to reports from Wafa. Residents were forced to evacuate their homes, displacing 293 families, which includes approximately 2,200 people, such as 127 infants, 81 pregnant women, and 26 individuals with disabilities.
The Israeli military imposed a lockdown in Hebron and conducted numerous raids following an attack by two armed Palestinian men on an Israeli army reserve base. The attack resulted in the deaths of two Israeli soldiers, with the suspects also killed. The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society reported that at least 47 Palestinians were detained across Hebron since the incident.
Activist Osama Makhamra informed Wafa that settlers have begun establishing two new outposts on Palestinian-owned land in Yatta. These include a tent in the Khallet al-Fara area and infrastructure work in the Yatta desert between az-Zuweidin and Umm Qussa.
The Israel Defense Forces announced restrictions on the entry and exit of Palestinian workers throughout Judea and Samaria and the Jordan Valley, including industrial zones. The restrictions were in place during Tuesday’s Israeli elections. Most workers were also barred from settlements, except for industrial zones and a limited number of other areas, as part of a broader crackdown following the attack.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned of a “very big surprise” for the Palestinian Authority during an interview with i24 television. Hebron Mayor Youssef al-Jaabari stated that the operation was being “driven by the elections.”
The Israeli military claimed it operated in over 400 locations over the weekend, arresting 40 Palestinians it alleged were affiliated with Hamas or Palestinian Islamic Jihad. The operation continued at the same intensity.
