Missouri Baptist Historical Commission Offers Scholarships for MBC Partner Universities
The Missouri Baptist Historical Commission is once again providing scholarships for students attending one of four Missouri Baptist Convention partner universities. The initiative, which offers a $1,000 scholarship to one student from each institution, is matched by the schools, resulting in a total of $2,000 per recipient.
The scholarship is available to high school students planning to enroll in one of these colleges next fall or to current students already enrolled. The application process requires submitting a research-based essay between five to 10 pages in length, focusing on a specific aspect of Missouri Baptist history. Topics may include a particular Southern Baptist church, an institution, a leader, or any other relevant aspect of Missouri Baptist life.
Applicants are encouraged to select original topics, with past winners and their chosen subjects listed on the commission’s website. The essays must be researched and written by the applicant, and the commission retains the right to republish or share parts of the winning papers as they see fit.
Applications can be submitted via mail to the Missouri Baptist Heritage Scholarship, Executive Office, located at 400 East High Street, Jefferson City, MO, 65101-3253, or by email to Janis Newbold at jnewbold@mobaptist.org. The deadline for submissions is April 22.
The commission will review all entries following a meeting in May and will notify applicants of the results afterward. This scholarship aims to promote historical awareness and scholarship within the Missouri Baptist community.
