The Reverend Doctor Roberta Mosier-Peterson has been appointed as the pastor of the Gerry Free Methodist Church and will begin her duties today. She and her husband, William Mosier-Peterson, are relocating from Jackson, Kentucky, where she served as pastor of the Free Methodist Church for the past five years.
Before her time in Kentucky, Dr. Mosier-Peterson led Free Methodist churches in Abilene, Texas; Kansas City, Kansas; and Vandalia, Illinois. During her tenure in Illinois, she also worked as a Prevention Educator at a rape crisis center, addressing issues of sexual assault and family emergencies.
Dr. Mosier-Peterson, originally from New Mexico, pursued her education at Central Christian College in Kansas, earning a Bachelor’s degree. She later obtained a Master of Divinity from Brite University, part of Texas Christian University, and completed her Doctorate in Ministry in 2016 at Northeastern Seminary, Roberts Wesleyan College. She is an ordained elder of the Free Methodist Church, USA.
Her husband, William Mosier-Peterson, is a native of Texas and has served as the Director of Advancement at Oakdale Christian Academy in Kentucky. He will continue in this role from their new home in Gerry. The couple met while attending Central Christian College, where she played volleyball, and they will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary in June.
The Mosier-Petersons are looking forward to becoming part of the Gerry community. They plan to host two open house events to meet residents, scheduled for Sunday, March 10, at the church and Sunday, March 31, at their home. Their goal is to build connections and serve the community.
