In a case that has captured national attention, former Solid Rock Church pastor John Miller faces federal charges stemming from allegations related to his estranged wife Mica’s death, which was ruled a suicide in 2024. The Netflix documentary series “Death of the Pastor’s Wife” has brought renewed scrutiny to the circumstances surrounding her death, with family and friends alleging that Miller stalked and abused Mica before her passing.
The investigation into Mica’s death, initially conducted by the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, was later taken over by the FBI. During this federal investigation, it was alleged that Miller provided false statements to investigators, leading to his indictment on two federal charges in 2025. The first charge is cyberstalking, described as “interstate domestic violence,” alleging that from November 2022 to April 27, 2024, Miller used electronic communication to harass and intimidate Mica. This included posting a nude photo of her online without her consent and placing a tracking device on her car.
The second charge against Miller is for making false statements to federal investigators. Allegedly, during an interview in October 2024, Miller misrepresented the frequency of his communications with Mica, claiming she called him more often than he called her. In reality, the indictment alleges that Miller called Mica at least 50 times more frequently. Additionally, Miller allegedly denied damaging Mica’s car, despite reports from Horry County Police instructing him to cease contact with her on March 11, 2024.
Miller has pleaded not guilty to both charges. The legal proceedings have experienced multiple delays due to motions filed by his attorneys, with a pretrial hearing scheduled for October 6. As the case unfolds, it serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of accountability and justice, echoing the biblical call to “do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with your God” (Micah 6:8). This case underscores the need for vigilance and care for victims, aligning with the Christian principles of truth and mercy.
