Saskatoon school staff member charged with sexually assaulting five 10-year-olds

A 41-year-old staff member of St. Mary’s Wellness and Education Centre in Saskatoon has been charged with multiple counts of sexual assault involving several 10-year-old children. The Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) has laid five counts of sexual assault and five additional counts of assault against the man, according to an SPS news release. The alleged incidents involved five separate 10-year-old children and occurred between September 1, 2025, and May 25, 2026.

Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools (GSCS) confirmed that the incidents allegedly took place at St. Mary’s, located in the 300 block of Avenue N South. A spokesperson for the division, Derrick Kunz, stated that the school was made aware of the allegations on May 25, 2026. Following this notification, the staff member was immediately assigned to home pending an investigation.

After a brief internal investigation, the school division dismissed the staff member. GSCS has stated that it is cooperating with the Saskatoon Police Service’s investigation but is unable to disclose further details due to privacy concerns. St. Mary’s Wellness and Education Centre replaced the original St. Mary’s school in 2012. The original institution was Saskatoon’s first school opened under the separate school board in 1914. The accused is scheduled to appear in Saskatoon provincial court on Wednesday, September 16.
