Jehovah’s Witnesses in Nigeria have started a special campaign centered on the Bible’s hope for a better world. The campaign will run through November 2021.

In Lagos, the campaign includes the distribution of a special edition of *The Watchtower* magazine with the theme “A Better World Is Near.” In a statement, Olusegun Eroyemi, the group’s spokesman in Nigeria, said Lagos is one of thousands of communities around the globe that will receive the message.

According to Eroyemi, the magazine addresses the long-standing question of whether this world is going to end and explains the Bible’s promises of an end to injustice. He said more than 36 million printed copies would be distributed in 230 languages and in 240 lands, with a digital edition available in 400 languages.

Eroyemi said the effort to reach out worldwide was prompted by despair in many parts of the world. “There is so much despair and nothing can be as refreshing as a message of hope,” he said. “That is the central theme of Jesus’ gospel. A better world is indeed near.”

The message of hope is offered to people facing despair, a picture of comfort passed from one person to another (2 Corinthians 1:3-4).
