Who we are
www.christp2p.com is run by Christ Peer to Peer. This policy explains what the site collects about you, why, who else receives it, how long it is kept and the choices you have. Questions are welcome at jason@christit.com.
What we collect
When you visit
Like every website, our server receives your device’s IP address, your browser type and the page you asked for. We use them to show you the page and to keep the site running and safe.
Our security system records the addresses of visitors whose requests look like attacks, such as many failed sign-ins or attempts to break in, and blocks them.
The site keeps an activity log for running and fixing the site. IP addresses in it are kept with the last part hidden.
The page counter counts visits without keeping anyone’s address.
If you ask for an invitation
We keep the name, email address and reason you give, and the IP address the request came from, so we can decide on it and send the invitation.
If you have an account
Your username, email address, display name and profile picture, and what you post. Your display name, picture and posts can be seen by others.
If you sign up for the newsletter
Your email address, when you signed up and confirmed, and the IP address used, which shows that you asked for it. Every newsletter has a link to leave.
If you use the chat or the guestbook
What you write in public chat rooms and the guestbook can be read by anyone and is kept as a lasting record of the conversation. We keep the name you chose and the IP address used, to stop spam and abuse.
Some forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that you are a person. Cloudflare receives your IP address and browser details for that check.
If you comment
Your name, email address, website if you give one, the comment, and the IP address used. Comments are checked for spam by Akismet, a service of Automattic, which receives the comment and those details.
If you give a gift
Payments are made on Square’s secure pages. We receive your name, email address, the amount and a record of the payment. We never see or keep your card number.
When you watch videos or use maps
To help videos load, your browser may share pieces of a video directly with other people watching it at the same time. While it does, their browsers can see your IP address.
While you watch a live stream, the server records the IP address used.
Maps are drawn with OpenStreetMap. Your browser loads the map pictures from OpenStreetMap’s servers, which receive your IP address.
How we use it
To run the site and your account, to send what you asked for, to answer you, to keep the site safe from spam and abuse, and to meet our legal duties. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. The site shows no ads from ad networks and uses no outside analytics.
Who else receives it
- Square, which processes gifts.
- Automattic, whose Akismet service checks comments for spam.
- Cloudflare, which runs the Turnstile check on some forms.
- OpenStreetMap, which serves the map pictures.
- Security networks that help block attacks, which may receive the addresses of computers that attacked the site.
- The authorities, when the law requires it, including reports of child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
- Whoever takes over the site, if it is ever handed on, under this same policy.
Cookies and browser storage
The site keeps only what it needs to work:
- Sign-in cookies, set by WordPress when you sign in, to keep you signed in.
- Comment cookies, only if you ask WordPress to remember your name for your next comment.
- Your light or dark mode choice, kept in your browser.
- Your recent searches, kept only in your browser.
- Which videos you rated, kept in your browser.
- Your video playback choice, kept in your browser.
- Where you are in a small game on the site, kept in your browser.
No advertising or tracking cookies are used, and no other company tracks you on this site. Because we do not follow anyone across other websites, every visitor is treated the same whether or not their browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal. You can clear cookies and browser storage at any time in your browser; you will be signed out and your choices forgotten.
How long we keep it
- The activity log: 90 days.
- Account details: until you ask us to delete your account.
- Invitation requests: until you ask us to delete them.
- Your newsletter address: until you leave the newsletter.
- Public chat and guestbook messages: as a lasting record, unless they are removed for breaking the rules or you ask us to remove your own.
- Gift records: as long as tax and accounting rules require.
- Addresses of blocked attackers: as long as they stay blocked.
Your choices
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, to correct it or to delete it, by writing to jason@christit.com. We answer within 30 days. You can leave the newsletter at any time with the link in every email; we keep a short note that you left, so we never write to you again.
Children
The site is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their details. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, write to jason@christit.com and we will delete it.
Keeping it safe
The site uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and its servers are in Utah, USA. We take reasonable care of what we keep, but no website can promise perfect security.
Changes to this policy
The date at the top of this page changes whenever this policy changes.
