Former Texas Pastor Faces New Child Grooming Charges After Sex Crime Arrest

In a recent development, former Texas Pastor Jorge Gonzalez Martinez is facing new charges of child grooming, stemming from an arrest on multiple child sex crime allegations. Martinez, 49, previously served as pastor at Iglesia Internacional Poder y Gloria in Edinburg, Texas. The allegations came to light in July when an alleged victim reported incidents that reportedly occurred between March and April of 2025.

According to a police report, a child confided in someone at the church about inappropriate contact by Martinez, which was subsequently reported to her father and then to the authorities. The victim described the alleged abuse as beginning with hugs that escalated into inappropriate physical contact. Following Martinez’s arrest, authorities have indicated that the investigation is ongoing, suggesting there may be additional victims.

Edinburg Police Chief Jaime Ayala emphasized the importance of encouraging any other potential victims to come forward, stating, “Part of why we wanted to push this out, if there’s potentially any other victims that are out there that have not made an outcry, maybe this helps them have the confidence to bring it forward so that we can investigate it and take the action that we need to take.”
