Catholic Nuns Rescue Girls from Domestic Servitude in Nigeria
On a sweltering Thursday afternoon, Veronica Boniface sat in a plastic chair at a hair salon in Ikot Ekpene, a semi-urban town in Nigeria’s southern region. About a dozen other girls moved around the packed salon, styling hair for clients.
Boniface has said she wants to become a lawyer to help victims of child labor. Her story is part of a report on Catholic nuns who are rescuing girls from domestic servitude in Nigeria, a focus that reflects the Church’s concern for protecting the vulnerable (Psalm 82:3).
