Homeless shelter closes after funding runs out, CEO says

A homeless shelter operated by the Friend of the Father Foundation in Warren has closed after about a year and a half, according to the nonprofit’s CEO, who said the organization couldn’t secure enough funding to continue operations (Matthew 25:35).

Raymond Deloatch, the shelter’s CEO, explained that the shelter recently began taking in more people referred by other organizations, which contributed to the nonprofit falling behind on payments to the building’s owner.

The shelter served around 150 people weekly on average, providing a critical resource for those experiencing homelessness in the community. The closure has raised concerns about the availability of shelter spaces for vulnerable individuals.

Deloatch emphasized the challenges of securing consistent funding for such services, highlighting the need for greater support from local and state governments to address housing insecurity (James 2:15-16).
