Man Jailed 15 Months in Mulhouse, France, for Violence Against Salvation Army Employees
A 36-year-old man was convicted on Friday, July 3, by the Mulhouse Court over events of April 27. According to the report, he was angry and very drunk that day and was restrained by three people, two of whom worked at the Good Home, the Salvation Army shelter in Mulhouse.
The accused was first scheduled to be tried immediately, on April 29. He asked for time to prepare his defence, and the case was rescheduled for June 29. On that date, the hearing did not go ahead because the lawyers were on strike.
The case was finally heard this Friday. The man was charged with violence against persons in charge of a public service, and the court convicted him. He was sentenced to 15 months in prison.
Staff who serve people in need deserve protection from violence (Psalm 82:3).
