Mennonite Disaster Service Plans New Homes in San Saba, Texas, After Deadly July 2025 Floods
Destructive and deadly flooding struck the Hill Country region of Texas on July 4, 2025, when water levels along the Guadalupe River rose rapidly. The river surged so quickly that people did not have time to react.
Search and rescue teams began work on July 4, but the amount of debris and destruction complicated the efforts of first responders.
Mennonite Disaster Service says its work in San Saba will focus on new builds, including some homes elevated above the flood plain. Building homes for families affected by the flooding is a form of practical care for neighbors in need (Hebrews 13:16).
