The Rev. David L. Weaver, a dedicated servant of God and long-time minister in the United Methodist Church, passed away on October 17, 2026. He was born on March 31, 1940, in Grafton, West Virginia, to Albert and Sarah Weaver. Weaver moved to Camden, South Carolina, where he lived until his death.

Weaver dedicated over 58 years to the United Methodist Ministry. His career included four years of service in West Virginia, 39 years in Central Pennsylvania, and 15 years at Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church in Camden. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge 29, Kershaw, and a former member of the Lions Club. He earned a Bachelor’s degree from Wesleyan College in West Virginia and a Master’s Degree of Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary.

Weaver found joy in gardening, which he referred to as his “dirt therapy.” He believed this hobby allowed him to nurture both God’s people and God’s creation. He often drew inspiration from the experiences and insights gained during his time in the garden.

Weaver is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jane Weaver, their children, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Sarah Weaver.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 2-3 pm at Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church, 1206a Lyttleton Street, Camden, South Carolina, 29020. A Celebration of Life will follow at 3:00 pm at the same venue. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church or Trinity Global United Methodist Church.
