Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command have arrested a pastor, Edwin Nwabueze, over alleged involvement in interstate vehicle theft. Police Public Relations Officer Josephine Adeh disclosed the arrest in a statement issued to journalists on Friday.

Adeh said the arrest followed the theft of a Toyota Camry at UTC Plaza in the Garki District of the FCT. According to the statement, the suspect is from Oji River in Enugu State but lives in Benue State, and he identified himself as a pastor with the Salvation Power Bible Ministry, located in the North Bank area of Benue State.

Adeh said police operatives arrested Nwabueze at his residence after what she described as sustained and expanded investigations. She said the suspect then led the operatives to another location, where his alleged accomplice, identified as Sadiq Jamiu, was also arrested.

The statement said preliminary investigations had linked Nwabueze to previous arrests by the Benue State Police Command in connection with vehicle theft cases. Police further indicated that the suspects are alleged members of an interstate vehicle theft syndicate that specialises in the theft and sale of vehicles across different states. Where a ministry title is claimed, honest dealing is the standard that matters most (Proverbs 11:1).

Investigations are ongoing, the statement said, to establish the full extent of the alleged syndicate’s operations and to apprehend other members who are currently at large. No charges are reported in the statement; it said the arrested suspects are in police custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
