A former pastor from Hopkinsville has been charged with grooming a minor, as reported by local authorities. The Cadiz Police Department received a report on August 17, 2026, concerning multiple incidents of inappropriate physical contact involving a 38-year-old man and a minor. The man, identified as Jeremiah Swaw of Cadiz, allegedly engaged in inappropriate physical contact with the minor on several occasions. While Swaw admitted to some of these allegations, he denied the majority of the sexual contact claims.
Jeremiah Swaw, who served as a religious leader, turned himself in to the authorities for the alleged misconduct. The church leadership promptly terminated his position, emphasizing that he is no longer allowed to have any contact with the youth or participate in church activities. The church has expressed deep sorrow over the incident and has called for prayerful support as the case proceeds through the justice system.
The church has clarified that the alleged offense did not occur on church property and reiterated its commitment to the safety and well-being of its members, particularly the young. In line with Micah 6:8, the church seeks to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God, emphasizing the importance of truth, accountability, and discernment in this challenging time. The community is encouraged to join in seeking God’s guidance as they navigate this difficult situation.
