Granbury private school linked to man convicted of molesting 6-year-old
A private religious school in Granbury, Texas, has been linked to a man convicted of sexually abusing a 6-year-old girl in 2004. John Conditt, 75, is listed as the manager of the nonprofit Trinity Bible Institute, which operates Turning Point Academy of Granbury, a K-12 school set to open in the fall. The school is affiliated with the conservative Turning Point USA movement.
The Trinity Bible Institute’s website lists Turning Point Academy of Granbury as one of its affiliated institutions. The address provided for the Trinity Bible Institute in Texas Secretary of State filings matches the home address of Conditt on the Texas Department of Public Safety’s sex offender registry. Conditt is required to register as a sex offender for life.
Conditt formerly worked as an FBI agent before his conviction. He admitted in court to molesting the 6-year-old girl approximately 10 times in his Southlake home. The victim’s parents were also FBI agents. Conditt also confessed to molesting other girls decades earlier, before joining the FBI. He retired from the bureau in 2001.
The Star-Telegram was unable to reach Conditt for comment. Greg Rhodes, director of the Trinity Bible Institute, did not respond to requests for comment. Shawna Keomisy, head of Turning Point Academy of Granbury, also did not return calls.
Last week, the Star-Telegram reported that Keomisy, previously known as Shawna Gunter, was convicted in 2014 of wire fraud and identity theft for falsely representing herself as a licensed health care professional in a Maryland pediatric office. Her husband, Souksavath Noi Keomisy, pleaded guilty in 2009 to felony federal charges of conspiracy to possess ecstasy with intent to distribute.
In addition to Turning Point Academy of Granbury, the Trinity Bible Institute manages the Shepherd’s Corner Preschool in Kalingalinga, Zambia. The school’s website describes it as providing early childhood education rooted in Christian values. Turning Point Academy of Granbury describes itself as a “Christ-centered K-12 school” on its website.
