Presiding Bishop Gérald Caussé and his counselors, Bishop W. Christopher Waddell and Bishop L. Todd Budge, recently visited the bishops’ storehouse at Welfare Square in Salt Lake City. During their visit, they engaged with missionaries and volunteers, expressing appreciation for their efforts in maintaining the facility’s cleanliness and organization. The storehouse, one of 124 worldwide, serves as a central hub for the Church’s welfare and humanitarian initiatives.

Elder Jordan Coulam, a 21-year-old missionary on his first day at the storehouse, shared his experience of stocking shelves and feeling recognized by the Presiding Bishopric. He emphasized the spiritual atmosphere, pointing out seven images of the Savior ministering to people. “It’s about ministering to the one,” he said, highlighting the personal focus of the work.

Bishop Caussé reflected on his background in supermarket and food distribution, noting the similarities in managing supply chains. However, he stressed the difference in purpose, stating, “It’s still very demanding, challenging in many ways, but it is easier because the Lord helps.” His testimony reinforces the belief that the work is divinely guided.

The bishops’ storehouse is part of a global network supporting the Church’s humanitarian efforts. These efforts include providing food, clothing, and other necessities to those in need, reflecting a commitment to caring for the vulnerable. The storehouse also serves as a distribution center for emergency relief and ongoing aid programs.

The Presiding Bishopric’s visit underscored the importance of faithful members in sustaining these efforts. Bishop Caussé expressed humility in recognizing the dedication of individuals like Elder Coulam, who contribute to the Church’s mission worldwide. Their work exemplifies a focus on service and compassion.

The Church’s welfare programs extend beyond immediate needs, aiming to uplift communities through long-term support. These initiatives align with the principle of caring for the vulnerable, a theme echoed in Proverbs 31:8-9, which calls for advocating for those who cannot speak for themselves. The bishops’ storehouse stands as a testament to this commitment.

Through the coordination of resources and the involvement of members, the Church continues to address both immediate and enduring challenges. The storehouse at Welfare Square, with its global network, plays a vital role in this mission, ensuring that aid reaches those in need across the world.
