Mary Cosby, a cast member of “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City,” has filed a lawsuit against two financial advisers, Annie L. Johnson and Shawn Turner, alleging forgery. According to reports, the two handled financial transactions for Cosby, her husband, Robert Cosby Sr., and their Faith Temple Pentecostal Church.

The lawsuit seeks nearly $6.3 million from Johnson and Turner. Reports say they have been accused of taking millions from Cosby and the church over several years and of using church funds for personal purposes. The reports allege that Johnson and Turner forged Robert Cosby Sr.’s signature and took $99,217 as a mortgage on a property east of Ensign Peak in 2008. The lawsuit also alleges that Johnson threatened a notary public to notarize the forged signature.

Cosby has reportedly issued a foreclosure notice to Johnson and Turner, demanding that they fulfill the mortgage or risk losing the property to her. Reports further accuse Johnson of transferring “sacred tithes and offerings” from the church’s members to herself to pay an American Express bill and other personal expenses. Officials reportedly obtained a ledger in Johnson’s handwriting showing that $90,670.32 was paid to her. These are allegations in a pending lawsuit, and the reports do not indicate that the claims have been proven in court.

Cosby has faced public accusations that Faith Temple Pentecostal Church operates as a cult, and she has said little publicly about them in the reporting. Her estranged mother has claimed in multiple interviews that the church is a cult and has said that Cosby is a “victim” of her husband’s alleged acts. Reports indicate that Cosby skipped the reunion of the show’s second season and took a brief hiatus after the accusations spread online. She also skipped filming to avoid questions about the church and about “racially offensive remarks” she made during the season.

The reports say the church has been closed because of the backlash and accusations Cosby received. The church’s website, however, stated that it had closed due to Covid-19.
