Local Church Hosts School Supply Giveaway and Fire Safety Education for Children

The First Church of God in Christ recently hosted a community school supply giveaway, providing essential items to local families as they prepare for the new school year. The event, organized by the church’s Sunshiners & Purity class, aimed to support children in their educational journey and foster a sense of community among families.

The afternoon event featured a variety of engaging activities designed to make the experience both enjoyable and informative. Children had the opportunity to explore a local fire truck, participate in crafts, and enjoy refreshments. The atmosphere was lively, with families coming together in a spirit of camaraderie and shared purpose.

The Carthage Fire Department played a key role in the event, bringing one of its engines for children to interact with. Beyond the novelty of seeing a fire truck up close, the department provided valuable fire safety education. Kids learned when and how to call 911 and practiced using phones to simulate emergency calls. This hands-on approach helped turn the event into a meaningful learning experience.

The church organizers expressed gratitude to the Carthage Fire Department for its contribution, highlighting the importance of collaboration between community groups and local services. Such partnerships are common in efforts to educate and support youth, reflecting a shared commitment to public safety and child welfare.

Each child who attended left with a backpack filled with school supplies, ensuring they were equipped for the upcoming academic year. The initiative underscores the church’s dedication to practical outreach, aiming to alleviate financial burdens on families while empowering students to start the school year with confidence.

The event also served as a reminder of the broader role local churches and civic organizations play in addressing community needs. By combining practical support with educational opportunities, these efforts contribute to the well-being of children and the strength of the community.
