Local Pastor Launches Initiative to Transform Historic Church Into Multi-Service Community Hub
Justin Wills, associate pastor of Miracle Temple Church in Luthian, Md., is carrying forward a legacy of service begun by his late grandfather, Elder James Dorsey. Dorsey built more than a church—he created a refuge of hope and provision for the community. Now, Wills and his wife, Natrea Wills, are expanding that mission into a multi-service community hub, reflecting a vision rooted in mercy and practical care.
The Wills family balances careers, family life, and community service while pursuing business degrees. Justin also serves as a federal government employee and chaplain for the Anne Arundel County Police Department. Their work is driven by a desire to address real needs in their community and beyond, echoing the call to love neighbors as oneself.
Miracle Temple Church already provides monthly food assistance to 800 to 1,000 households in Southern Maryland and Anne Arundel County through a partnership with the Anne Arundel County Food Bank. Building on this foundation, the church is planning to expand its services to support families, seniors, veterans, and individuals with disabilities.
One of the first projects involves restoring the church’s café building, which will become a community kitchen. Volunteers will prepare and serve hot meals weekly for those facing food insecurity. This initiative aligns with the biblical call to feed the hungry, as seen in Matthew 25:35, where Jesus says, “I was hungry and you gave me food.”
The upper level of the café will be transformed into a youth development hub. Young people will receive job training, résumé assistance, interview preparation, and financial literacy education. This reflects Galatians 6:10, which encourages believers to “do good to all people, especially to those of the household of faith.”
Another major focus is restoring the church parsonage, originally built by Elder Dorsey. The home, which suffered a tragedy in 2020, will be repurposed as temporary housing for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. This effort mirrors the biblical principle of caring for the vulnerable, as emphasized in Hebrews 13:16, which calls for acts of mercy and generosity.
Through these initiatives, Miracle Temple Church continues to embody the spirit of neighbor-love, demonstrating that service is not just a ministry, but a way of life. The church’s transformation into a community hub reflects a commitment to practical outreach, ensuring that no one is left behind.
