Memorial University in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, to offer new course on clergy abuse
The Memorial University of Newfoundland course, titled *Sex Abuse Crisis*, examines what happened in clergy sexual abuse cases and why, and how churches have responded. CBC reported on the course on January 16.
The course was developed by Michelle Rebidoux, an assistant professor, and Gemma Hickey, a local activist. According to the CBC report, the course addresses a difficult subject, and clergy members are also involved in it. Naming what happened and examining how churches responded is an exercise in speaking the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15).
The CBC item was a short video report by Henrike Wilhelm, and the source material does not include further detail about the course’s structure, enrollment, or content.
