Pastor Dean Roush leads these outreach efforts. He was appointed to Mora United Methodist Church in 2022 after a long period working in various secular professions. Roush describes his background as a “second-career clergy” path, noting the diverse experiences that preceded his ministry role.

Before entering full-time pastoral work, Roush worked as a mechanic immediately after high school. He subsequently spent decades as a cattle and sheep farmer, drove a school bus, and taught high school mathematics and physics for 25 years. This varied professional history has informed his approach to serving the community.

Roush also contributes regularly to the local Kanabec County Times, writing opinion pieces that explore faith, community values, personal reflection, and life perspectives. He emphasizes his willingness to discuss life’s struggles openly and his resolve to find solutions, a disposition he believes has prepared him for his current ministry.

The church’s activities reflect a commitment to neighbor-love and practical mercy, aligning with the biblical call to care for those in need as described in Galatians 6:10. By providing bread, coffee, and communion, the congregation seeks to meet tangible needs while fostering spiritual connection within the local community.
