Moroccan Activists Protest Against Israel Normalization Following FMSPCN Call for Nationwide Demonstrations

Moroccan activists are organizing nationwide protests against the Moroccan government’s decision to deepen and expand official normalization with Israel. The Moroccan Front for Support of Palestine and Against Normalization (FMSPCN) announced these protests, scheduled from September 25 to 27, through their social media channels. The call for action follows a meeting between Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar and Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita in the United States on September 16, accompanied by US Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz. This meeting occurred shortly after the sixth anniversary of the Abraham Accords.

The activists’ flyer emphasizes a strong opposition to the establishment of a Zionist embassy in Morocco. FMSPCN highlighted that the meeting in New York aimed to elevate Moroccan-Israeli relations to the level of embassies, including the exchange of ambassadors, and to expand flights and strengthen economic, commercial, military, and security agreements. The group criticized these developments, stating that they occur amidst ongoing actions by Israel against Palestinians, including occupation and settlement policies.

FMSPCN argues that normal relations cannot be established with an entity they describe as based on occupation and other severe charges. They maintain that Palestine is not a subject for normalization and emphasize the cause of freedom and justice for Palestinians. The group pledges continued resistance, asserting that normalization will neither erase truths nor silence the voices supporting Palestine.
