Pagosa Unitarian Universalist Fellowship to Hold Annual Potluck Picnic and Service Sunday
The Pagosa Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will hold its annual Fellowship Potluck Picnic and Service this Sunday, July 21, at 11 a.m. at a member’s home. No service will be held at the Fellowship this Sunday, and no Zoom service will be offered.
The Fellowship describes Unitarian Universalism as a covenant-based faith tradition, which it says means that members gather in covenantal relationship rather than around a creed with specific beliefs to adhere to. The Fellowship’s covenant statement begins: “The spirit of this Fellowship is love, and service is its law.”
Michael Demchak, a longtime member and lay minister, will lead the service. He will address the covenantal relationship in a faith community and what it means for members to covenant with one another. The Fellowship has invited members to celebrate their interconnectedness and love for one another (Psalm 133:1).
The gathering will also include a new member ceremony and a discussion of the Fellowship’s future plans and hopes. Visitors are welcome. Those interested in attending as guests can email PagosaUUF@gmail.com for details and directions.
Attendees are asked to bring a folding chair and items that will make them comfortable outdoors, such as a hat and sunblock. The Fellowship will provide a main dish and dessert, and guests are asked to bring a side dish to share.
In-person services are normally held at 10:30 a.m. on the first and third Sundays of each month. The Fellowship directs people to its website, www.pagosauu.org, for its current newsletter and information on service locations and programs.
The Fellowship also previewed its August services, which will feature two guest ministers from other Unitarian Universalist congregations.
