Police Investigate Alleged Sexual Misconduct Involving Former Woodland Christian School Employee
Police in Woodland are investigating allegations of sexual misconduct involving a then-Woodland Christian School employee and at least one high school student. The alleged incident happened off campus.
According to the Woodland Police Department, the department received a phone call about 6:15 p.m. on May 11 from Woodland Christian School officials. The call reported alleged “inappropriate” contact between the employee and one or more high school students, according to Sgt. Victoria Danzl, a police spokeswoman.
Danzl said the woman involved is an employee of the school but is not a teacher there. The Police Department is not releasing her name. No arrests have been made, and the investigation into the allegations is continuing. “It is of the utmost importance for us to thoroughly collect any and all evidence and thoroughly investigate this incident,” Danzl said on Thursday.
Ryan Devine, administrator of Woodland Christian School, confirmed that the woman no longer works at the school. He declined to describe what her job on campus had been before her employment ended. In a written statement emailed to The Sacramento Bee, Devine said, “The incident was immediately reported to law enforcement, the employee is no longer associated with the school, and our focus is on supporting our students and their families.” Reporting the matter to police reflects honest dealing (Proverbs 11:1).
Woodland Christian School, established in 1974, is a private school serving preschool, elementary, middle school and high school students on its campus. Devine declined on Thursday to say whether the students involved in the alleged off-campus incident attended his school.
