Sandra Sheskin Brotman, a prominent figure in the Messianic Jewish Movement, passed away on May 29, 2023, at the age of 81. She was known for her deep faith, vibrant spirit, and dedication to sharing the love of Messiah Yeshua with others. A matriarch within the movement, Sandra was recognized for her contributions to both spiritual and cultural outreach.

Born on March 18, 1942, in Washington, D.C., Sandra grew up in a family with strong ties to Poland. She pursued a diverse educational path, including studies in English and literature at George Washington University, the Bible and music at Washington Bible College, and voice training at the Totoursky Academy of Music. Her academic and artistic pursuits laid the foundation for her later work in ministry and music.

Sandra was one of the first female Messianic Jewish recording artists, known for her songs about Zion and her Messiah. She led spiritually oriented tours to Israel, Russia, Europe, and the Middle East, ministering in countries such as Canada, Germany, South Korea, and Israel. For several years, she served as the Executive Vice President of the Messianic Jewish Movement International and later worked as a consultant to the organization, establishing herself as a pioneer in the field.

Throughout her life, Sandra was actively involved with Ahavat Yeshua, a Messianic Jewish congregation in Washington, D.C. She used her gifts as a singer, songwriter, Bible teacher, pro-life advocate, and writer to serve the Lord. Her writings on Messianic Jewish topics and numerous interviews on local and national media platforms further expanded her influence and outreach.

Sandra was preceded in death by her husband, Rabbi Manny Brotman, and her brother, Gene Sheskin. She is survived by her stepsons, Nathan and Joel Brotman, Joel’s wife Tammy, and her cousin, Gene Sheskin, along with his wife Sandra. Her legacy is marked by her passion for sharing the love of Messiah Yeshua with both Jews and Gentiles, her love for Israel, her advocacy for the unborn, and her support for those serving in the armed forces.

A memorial service celebrating Sandra’s life will be held at the end of June. Details will be announced soon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ahavat Yeshua, her beloved congregation, at 3885 Massachusetts Ave, NW, Washington, D.C. 20016.
