Yakima, WA — The Triumph Treatment Center has reopened one of its housing facilities after closing it earlier this year for much-needed renovations. These upgrades were made possible by a grant of nearly one million dollars from the Housing Preservation Program. The improvements aim to support ongoing efforts to address Yakima’s homelessness crisis.

Triumph Treatment Center is a behavioral health organization mainly focused on substance use disorder treatment. In addition to treatment services, it offers several housing programs, including a family emergency shelter located on Yakima Avenue. The shelter consists of 16 rooms, with 12 designated as emergency shelter. These rooms provide families a safe place to stay for 30 to 90 days.

Renee Kollman, Director of External Affairs at Triumph, said the facility needed more than cosmetic changes since taken over in 2008. “This grant allowed us to give a great refresh to the shelter. But more important than simple refreshing, like the paint and the floors and new lighting, we’re able to address some structural issues to make sure that we have the shelter for long term. New roof, new HVAC, improved plumbing, things like this,” Kollman said.

She added that the renovations were essential for the facility to continue serving the community. The upgrades reflect a commitment to providing stable, safe environments for those in need, aligning with the biblical call to care for the vulnerable, as seen in Proverbs 31:8-9, which urges justice for the oppressed and advocacy for the fatherless.
