Suspect in Charlie Kirk Shooting Arrested in St. Johns, Utah
Tyler Robinson, 22, has been identified by law enforcement officials as the suspect in the shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, according to an Israel Today report published September 11, 2025. Another report from ynet.co.il describes Robinson as a 22-year-old student from Utah. The reports agree on his name and age but differ on some details of how the case unfolded.
According to an anonymous law enforcement official cited by Israel Today, Robinson was arrested in St. Johns, Utah, near Zion National Park, about 400 miles southwest of the campus where Kirk was killed. The ynet.co.il report says the arrest followed a manhunt that lasted nearly two days.
Israel Today reports that the investigation began on the evening of September 11, when a family member contacted the Washington County Sheriff’s Department. Ynet.co.il gives a different account of the family’s role. It reports that Robinson confessed to his father that he was the person who shot Kirk, and that the father turned him in to authorities after a conversation with a priest. Both reports describe a family member bringing the matter to authorities, but they do not agree on who made that contact or how it happened.
Israel Today reports that the suspect reportedly confessed to a family member that he had committed the act. Utah Governor Spencer Cox credited the Robinson family with helping bring the suspect to law enforcement. Israel Today also reports that authorities reviewed messages from Robinson’s roommate that allegedly referenced hiding a weapon wrapped in a towel after the incident. The family’s decision to contact authorities reflects the weight of honest dealing in a painful situation (Proverbs 11:1).
Investigators noted unused bullets bearing engravings. Israel Today cites phrases including “Hi Fascists” and “get caught.” Ynet.co.il reports an inscription reading “Bella Chow” on bullets in the cartridge. The FBI indicated the case was resolved within 33 hours, according to Israel Today.
On the question of legal status, the reports differ in emphasis. Israel Today states that Robinson remains a suspect and that no formal charges, plea, or conviction has yet been established. Ynet.co.il describes the case as involving serious criminal charges related to the killing of a prominent public figure. Robinson has not been convicted of any offense, and the allegations against him remain unproven in court.
President Donald Trump publicly stated his hope that Robinson receives the death penalty, according to ynet.co.il.
