Zanesville, Ohio, Church of the Nazarene Hosts Free Scouting-Based Caravan Program for Children
Wednesday evenings are filled with learning and laughter at Zanesville Northside Church of the Nazarene in Zanesville, Ohio.
The church hosts Caravan, a free, scouting-based youth program for children in kindergarten through 5th grade. The program gives children a chance to make new friends, take part in activities, and learn life skills.
Pastor Matthew Kirkpatrick said the program focuses on children’s emotional, spiritual and mental development, with the aim of helping them build character and grow into well-rounded individuals.
Each week, children take part in hands-on activities while working toward earning badges and exploring new interests. Caravan Director Kristen Kirkpatrick said the children recently explored the church’s sound equipment, learned how microphones work, and completed their technology badges.
Each child is also served a free dinner at 5:30 p.m., a practice of welcome offered to neighborhood families (Matthew 25:35). The program runs throughout the school year, is completely free, and requires no registration.
Caravan meets every Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Zanesville Northside Church of the Nazarene, located at 739 Francis St. in Zanesville.
