Baptist World Alliance Names Jeff Peck Director of Communications and Media
The Baptist World Alliance has named Jeff Peck its new director of communications and media following a global search. The BWA announced the appointment on Tuesday, June 23, in a news release. The release said Peck brings more than two decades of experience in strategic communications and marketing to the role.
According to the release, Peck’s career spans government agencies, nonprofit organizations and private-sector institutions. His leadership roles have included serving as director of marketing and communications for Prison Fellowship, director of internal communications for Alliance Defending Freedom, and executive director of Christ Together Greater Austin, where he helped mobilize churches and ministry leaders for collaborative Kingdom impact. He also served as chief communications officer for Texas Health and Human Services, where he directed enterprise communications for a 54,000-employee agency and led efforts to strengthen stakeholder engagement, unify organizational messaging and expand public awareness.
Peck holds a bachelor of arts in journalism and a master of international journalism from Baylor University. He is also the co-author of *Stories of Faith and Courage from Prison*.
In the new role, Peck will work closely with the BWA general secretary to develop and guide the organization’s communications and media strategy across all ministry areas and platforms. The BWA describes him as a strategic storyteller, brand steward and digital innovator, whose task is to make the alliance’s message clear, creative and compelling for diverse audiences and cultures. The release frames this as communicating truthfully and with care across many settings (Ephesians 4:15).
Peck will be based at the BWA Global Mission Center in Falls Church, Virginia. He will attend the upcoming 2026 BWA Annual Gathering in Toronto, Canada, where he will begin meeting Baptist leaders from around the world. He will officially assume leadership of the department on July 20, 2026.
Peck succeeds Merritt Johnston, who has served as BWA director of communications and media since 2019. Johnston will begin serving full time as BWA women executive director on August 1.
