Church Donates Food to Local Meal-Sharing Shelters
Timothy Beeman, president of the Anderson CA Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, welcomed a team of volunteers who gathered to help unload and distribute a semi-truck full of dried canned foods destined for 14 local organizations that provide meals to those in need.
The food arrived in Red Bluff shortly after a much-needed rainfall, with over 25,000 pounds of supplies intended for shelters that prepare meals for people in need. Wendy Phillips of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints JustServe Program explained that the donation was specifically for groups that provide meals, not for food banks to distribute directly.
The shipment included staples such as black beans, sugar, rice, milk, potato flakes, carrots, strawberry slices, oats, macaroni, apple slices, onions, and flour, all dried and packed in #10 cans. The food was unloaded in groups and divided into 14 piles for organizations to pick up.
Church members, volunteers, and a work group from the Tehama County Probation Department worked quickly and efficiently to distribute the donations. Before the distribution, President Timothy Beeman thanked the volunteers and organizations for their efforts, emphasizing that they were the ones making the food available to those in need.
Beeman referenced Christ’s commandment to feed and care for the poor found in Matthew 25:35-36, 40. Patrick Hurton, a Red Bluff City Councilman, praised the community effort, calling it amazing to see people come together to help those in need.
Paula Anderson of Red Bluff, who organized the church donation, expressed appreciation that PATH and Red Bluff were among the area organizations benefiting from the food. The donation reflects a commitment to serving the community through mercy and practical neighbor-love.
