Concordia University Irvine Hosts Annual Lutheran Elementary School Tournament (Irvine, California)
The LCMS campus community continues to demonstrate collaboration both on and off campus through various initiatives and events. In February, Concordia University Irvine (CUI) in Irvine, Calif., hosted the annual Lutheran Elementary School Tournament, bringing together 10 Lutheran elementary schools from Arizona, Idaho, California, and Nevada. Over 1,000 students and family members attended the event, which featured a variety of competitions including a scavenger hunt, “Battle of the Books,” basketball tournament, and contests in mathematics, chess, music, theater, art, robotics, Rubik’s Cube, science, and spelling. Volunteers from CUI and Crean Lutheran High School played a key role in organizing the event.
The first five graduates of the new Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at Concordia University Chicago (CUC) in River Forest, Ill., have achieved a significant milestone. After completing their degree, the group recently passed the National Council State Board of Nursing Examination (NCLEX-RN), a necessary step toward becoming registered nurses. Their success reflects the dedication of both the students and the faculty who supported them throughout their academic journey.
In addition to academic and athletic achievements, CUC is set to host its inaugural Festival of Scripture & the Arts on June 20–21. The event will feature a mix of musical performances, artistic displays, and opportunities for spiritual reflection. The festival coincides with an all-music alumni reunion, offering a chance for former students to reconnect and celebrate the university’s legacy.
The university also plans to welcome alumni from the classes of 1975 and 1976 for their 50th Golden Reunion on June 25–27. This reunion will provide a meaningful opportunity for alumni to reunite and reflect on their shared experiences.
Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW) in Mequon, Wis., has also seen a positive addition to its campus life. A yellow Labrador named Truman has joined the university’s therapy dog program, supporting students’ well-being. His arrival, made possible by a generous donor, expands the program’s capacity to provide comfort and connection. Truman joins Trixie, another therapy dog, in the Veteran Resource Center, where they assist students in need. The presence of therapy dogs underscores the university’s commitment to fostering a supportive and caring environment.
