Elder Gérald Caussé of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles emphasized the importance of covenants in the life of a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ during a stake conference in Kyulu, Kenya, on October 18, 2026. Speaking to members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he highlighted that the first thing the world will see in Latter-day Saints is their commitment to sacred covenants. These covenants, he explained, are renewed weekly through the sacrament, a practice that reflects gratitude for Jesus Christ’s atoning sacrifice and a willingness to follow Him.

In a subsequent address at the Nairobi Kenya South Stake on October 25, Elder Caussé referenced Philip’s invitation to Nathaniel in John 1:46 to “come and see” the Messiah. He extended this invitation to the world, stating that the first sign of Christ is found in the lives of Church members. “You are the Church,” he said, urging members to consider what others will see in them. He encouraged them to embody the values of Christ through their actions and to recognize their role as witnesses of Jesus Christ.

Elder Caussé further encouraged members to deepen their understanding of Christ’s teachings through temple worship. He taught that the house of the Lord is a place where individuals learn about Christlike attitudes and values, including love, dignity, respect, and patience. These lessons, he explained, are essential for becoming more like Jesus Christ and living according to His teachings.

Members of the Church expressed gratitude for the opportunity to hear from an Apostle. Pascal Mutungi, who had been praying and preparing for the stake conference in Nairobi, shared his appreciation for the messages received. Oscar Kiro added that the Apostle’s words strengthened his faith, while Tabitha Kioko described the experience of hearing an Apostle in person as a sacred and meaningful moment in her life.

Throughout his assignment in the Africa Central Area from October 16 to October 26, Elder Caussé was accompanied by his wife, Sister Valérie Caussé, and members of the Africa Central Area presidency. During his visit, he engaged with government leaders and local communities, continuing to share the message of Christ and the importance of living according to His teachings.
