Former Damascus Christian School Employees Charged with Sex Abuse
Two former Damascus Christian School employees, David Wakefield and Rachel Wakefield, have been charged with sex abuse, according to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office. The office says both worked at Damascus Christian at the time of the allegations, and investigators believe there may be more victims.
David Wakefield served as the school’s principal and later as its athletic director until 2020. Rachel Wakefield worked as a substitute teacher and coach.
According to the sheriff’s office, the alleged abuse involved a student who was 14 years old when it began and continued for four years. These are charges and allegations against the Wakefields, and they have not been resolved in court.
In a statement posted on the school’s website, the superintendent said the school was heartbroken to learn of the allegations. The statement did not describe further action by the school.
Investigators’ concern for additional possible victims makes the protection of children a central question in this case, a duty that calls for vigilance on behalf of the vulnerable (Psalm 82:3).
Anyone who believes they know someone who may be a possible victim of the Wakefields is asked to contact the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.
