Former Youth Ministry Director in Catonsville, Maryland, Pleads Guilty to Sexually Abusing Five Students
Kevin Blair Guy, 32, a former youth ministry director in Baltimore County, Maryland, pleaded guilty in Baltimore County Circuit Court to sexual abuse of a minor and to third- and fourth-degree sex offenses. The charges involved five students connected to Metro Maryland Youth for Christ.
According to the plea agreement, Guy could be sentenced to a maximum of 35 years in prison, though a seven-year sentence is more likely. He will also be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
Guy worked as a ministry director for Metro Maryland Youth for Christ. The ministry rented space at Cummins Reformed Episcopal Church in Catonsville, where some of the abuse took place, according to the Baltimore Sun. Guy pleaded guilty to abuse occurring between 2021 and 2024. Beyond the church, the abuse reportedly occurred at a fast food restaurant near the church, in Guy’s car, and at his home in Reisterstown, Maryland. Guy admitted to touching the teens’ genitals, sharing details of his own sexual experiences with them, and sending them explicit photos and videos.
Earlier reports said the alleged abuse began in 2018, and Guy originally faced nearly 80 charges involving five minors. In one incident, investigators alleged that Guy set up his cellphone in a bathroom and recorded a student, according to WBAL-TV. The student declined to be interviewed by police. Harm to young people placed under an adult’s care calls for the kind of protection described in Proverbs 31:8-9.
Initially, Guy denied the allegations. He told investigators that he discussed pornography and sex outside marriage because he “talked to students about everything,” according to the Baltimore Banner. He also told police that he struggles with drinking and that he was molested over the course of an entire summer when he was ten years old.
When the allegations surfaced, Youth for Christ (YFC) issued a statement to the Baltimore Banner. “YFC is aware of the current situation at Metro Maryland Youth for Christ. YFC continues to maintain the highest standards of morality and personal conduct for all employees and volunteers,” the statement read. “In light of current circumstances and an investigation taking place, we cannot comment further.”
Mary Baykowski, who lives near Guy, said when the allegations surfaced, “I never expected anything like that.” She described him as “such a nice guy, friendly, help you do anything you needed help with.”
Guy’s sentencing is currently set for December 17. He is being held without bail in the Baltimore County Detention Center.
