Good Shepherd Polish National Catholic Church, at 269 E. Main St. in Plymouth, celebrated its 125th anniversary on Sept. 30.

The parish rang the original bell from the steeple of its old church by hand, as it had done when the congregation marked its 100th anniversary. The bell’s use at both jubilees links the current community to its earlier years (Psalm 78:4).

The anniversary observance began with a procession that moved outside from the church hall to the church’s main entrance. Participants included Prime Bishop Anthony Mikovski, Diocesan Bishop Bernard Nowicki, the Very Rev. Lucian Urbaniak, pastor of Good Shepherd, clergy from various churches, altar servers and members of the Ladies Adoration Society.

At the entrance, Mikovski and Nowicki were welcomed into the church with bread and salt, presented by parish chairman Mike Truszkowski and his wife, Melissa. Mikovski then celebrated Mass.

Organist Bill Loyack, the choir from All Saints Roman Catholic Church in Plymouth and singers from other neighboring parishes joined the church choir for the service.

A group photograph from the event shows, in the front row from left, Stephen Truszkowski, Ryan Stokes, Urbaniak, Mikovski, Nowicki, the Rev. Thomas Basta, the Rev. Richard Wosiak and the Rev. Robert Plichta. The second row includes Robert Stokes, Deacon Michael Seward, the Very Rev. Thaddeus Dymkowski, the Rev. Edward Czudak and Cleric Sean Dott.
