Hundreds Attend Seventh-day Adventist Church’s Gospel in the Park Festival in Rye
Hundreds gathered for a day of faith, music and community spirit at the Gospel in the Park event in The Rye, High Wycombe, on Sunday, July 26. Organized by Wycombe Community and Hope Community Seventh-day Adventist churches, the event brought together people of all ages and backgrounds for a celebration of live gospel music, family entertainment, and community activities.
The day began with a Pathfinder parade through the town centre, accompanied by music and supported by Thames Valley Police, before arriving at The Rye. Attendees enjoyed performances from gospel artists, children’s rides, community stalls, and a dedicated Health Ministries area offering free health checks. The event also featured family-friendly activities and community engagement, reflecting the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s commitment to outreach and service.
David Da Silva, community ministries leader at Wycombe Community Seventh-day Adventist Church, expressed the event’s vision: “Our vision was simple—to take the Gospel beyond the walls of the church and into the heart of our community.” He noted the inspiring sight of people from diverse cultures, backgrounds, and generations coming together in fellowship.
The Mayor of High Wycombe, councillor Imran Hussain, officially opened the event, which was also attended by the High Commissioner for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines UK, pastor Dr Kirk Thomas, president of the British Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, and other church and community leaders. The gathering underscored the church’s role in fostering community connections and promoting public service.
Organizers expressed their sincere appreciation to the many organisations, emergency services, sponsors, and volunteers who supported the event. The festival exemplified the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s emphasis on charity, hospitality, and community engagement, aligning with the biblical call to care for others and share the message of faith.
The event was part of a series of summer activities on Bucks high streets, including free family-friendly activities and community events. It highlighted the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s ongoing efforts to serve the public through outreach, health ministry, and cultural inclusivity.
