Ken Bushman, Sr., a devoted husband, father, and community member, passed away on December 19, 2020, at McLaren Hospital in Lapeer, MI, surrounded by his family. He was 74 years old. Born on November 17, 1946, in Clinton Township, MI, Ken was the son of Robert and Doris (Renshaw) Bushman. He is survived by his wife Fran, children Laura (Don Sayre) Morales, Kimberly (Jeff) Lowe, Shannon (Todd) Lloyd, and Kenny Bushman Jr., as well as seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by his sister Carol Hanson, late brother Charles Ludwig, nephews Eric and Shawn Hanson, and several nieces and nephews.

Ken and Fran celebrated 30 years of marriage in 2020. Known for his simple and joyful life, Ken enjoyed watching retro TV shows like Perry Mason and Matlock with Fran. He found pleasure in the outdoors, where he spent time riding his 8-N Ford tractor, planting flowers, and growing vegetables in his garden. Ken was also a devoted pet lover, particularly fond of his Retrievers, Ernie and Delta. He was actively involved in his son’s business and enjoyed attending car and Big Rig Truck shows in St. Ignace, MI. His bond with the Waters family was strong, especially during deer camp at their Drummond Island home.

A machinist by trade, Ken worked for his family business for most of his career. He was a committed member of the Almont Vineyard Church, where he was deeply involved in the Foods Manna Ministry, a church initiative focused on providing food assistance to those in need. Ken also volunteered as the Grill-master for the Almont Jr Raiders, contributing to community events and fostering fellowship.

Ken’s legacy includes his family, his love for simple pleasures, and his dedication to his community. His family requests that donations be made to local food pantries or charities in his name. Visitation will take place at the Almont Vineyard Church on January 3, 2021, followed by a celebration of life service on January 4, 2021. Interment will be at Ferguson Cemetery in Almont.

Micah 6:8 calls for justice, mercy, and humble service—values that Ken Bushman embodied through his life and work. His commitment to his family, his community, and his faith left a lasting impact on those who knew him.
