Northampton Christian school to open in September after moving into office block
A new Northampton Christian school will open in September after relocating to a former office block. The school, situated off Hunsbury Hill Avenue, will consolidate students from its current smaller campuses in Dunstable and Northampton. This move will serve students aged 7 to 18 years old, creating a through school from years 3 to 12.
Spectre Education, a charity that runs private schools for members of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church community, operates the school. It is part of OneSchool Global, an organization established to support students and families within the church community. The organization emphasized that while the schools cater to its members, they do not include religious studies or daily acts of worship, focusing solely on delivering the national curriculum.
Residents had previously raised concerns about potential traffic congestion in the residential area due to the school’s location. However, local authorities concluded that the move would have “no adverse impact on the character and appearance of the area, the amenities of adjoining occupiers nor on highway and pedestrian safety.” They also noted that the new site would provide a suitable educational environment for future students.
OneSchool Global operates over 120 campuses in 20 countries, including major cities such as New York, Paris, Sydney, Rome, Auckland, Copenhagen, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. The new Northampton Campus will feature upgraded sports and recreational areas, alongside enhanced learning environments.
The existing campuses in Northampton and Dunstable serve a limited number of school years, and the merger will create a through school from years 3 to 12. Up to 183 students from the two separate schools are expected to enroll at the new campus, with additional places available. All teachers at the current campuses will be offered roles at the new campus, with new positions also available.
Paul Davies, Campus Principal, expressed enthusiasm for the plans, stating that the merger represents an opportunity to combine the expertise of existing staff with new and improved facilities. The new campus is designed to support self-directed learning through state-of-the-art facilities, creating a welcoming environment conducive to students’ academic success.
The school’s approach aligns with the principle of Micah 6:8, which calls for justice, mercy, and humble service. By providing quality education in a supportive environment, the new campus aims to serve its community with integrity and care.
