Rochester, New York, police detain two 14-year-olds after stolen vehicle crash
Two 14-year-olds were detained after a stolen vehicle crashed while fleeing authorities in Rochester, N.Y., on Wednesday evening, according to the Rochester Police Department.
Officers attempted to stop the suspect vehicle for traffic violations around 5:10 p.m. near the intersection of Mitchell and Furlong streets. Police said the driver refused to stop and fled before crashing into another vehicle at the intersection.
Following an investigation, police determined the fleeing vehicle had been reported stolen out of Monroe County. Careful inquiry into the vehicle’s status came before any charges were announced (Proverbs 18:17).
Police said two 14-year-olds fled the stolen vehicle after the crash but were later apprehended. The driver is a 14-year-old boy.
The 14-year-old driver will be charged with first-degree reckless endangerment for his actions while fleeing officers, police said. Both teenagers will also face charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
