Police in Manchester, England, have confirmed that three boys arrested after a stabbing in the city centre have been released on bail.

Officers were called to reports of a stabbing on Market Street, outside the Arndale shopping centre on Withy Grove, at 7pm on Tuesday, October 27, according to a Greater Manchester Police (GMP) spokesperson. Police taped off a lift in the shopping centre near the Roller’s café, and multiple police vehicles, including a forensics van, were seen on High Street and Withy Grove.

A 13-year-old boy was taken to hospital from the scene with knife wounds. Protecting the vulnerable is the duty of everyone who hears of a wounded child (Psalm 82:3).

Three boys, aged 14, 15 and 16, were arrested on suspicion of affray. A fourth boy, aged 13, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article.

In an update issued on October 29, a GMP spokesperson said three of the boys had since been released on bail and that the other remained in hospital. The source does not state whether any of the boys has been charged.

Earlier, Superintendent Simon Nasim of GMP’s City of Manchester team said police were aware of other incidents of a similar nature in the city centre but did not believe they were linked at that stage. He said dedicated teams would be deployed to hotspot areas across the city centre.

GMP said its investigation into the Tuesday incident is ongoing and asked anyone with information, including witnesses and people with CCTV or mobile phone footage, to call 0161 856 1495 or use the LiveChat function on the force website, quoting log 3058 of 28/10/26. Information can also be given anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
