On Saturday, October 31, the First Reformed Church of Walden hosted its annual trunk-or-treat and chili cook-off, inviting trick-or-treaters to the event.

From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., dozens of passersby received candy from decorated car trunks and sampled several homemade chilis. The trick-or-treaters appreciated the food and hospitality, and church members enjoyed seeing the variety of costumes.

Hospitality extended to neighbors, sharing what one has with others (Hebrews 13:16).

Awards were given in both contests. Felicite Calabrese and company won the trunk-or-treat for their duck-themed trunk. In the chili cook-off, Gail Nordmann was named winner for most original chili, Jerry Hanen for hottest chili, and Carol Ann for overall best chili.
